    ned henry

    Songwriter, vocals, guitars & harmonica

Ned Henry is a New Orleans singer-songwriter whose self-described “Coastal Americana” blends roots rock, Gulf Coast grooves, country influences and laid-back storytelling into music with an optimistic, distinctly coastal spirit.

His songs draw on life along the Gulf and Atlantic coasts—water, weather, travel, good times, bad luck and the art of rolling with whatever comes your way. Onstage, those songs expand into a lively full-band mix of Americana, roots rock and New Orleans rhythm: music designed to feel as natural at a festival as it does on a waterfront porch.

Ned’s latest album, Make Your Own Weather, features a deep roster of New Orleans musicians alongside legendary pedal steel guitarist Doyle Grisham, whose decades-long career with Jimmy Buffett helped shape the Gulf Coast sound that influenced Henry’s music.

Henry celebrated the album with a sold-out record-release show at Chickie Wah Wah, backed by an exceptional New Orleans band featuring John Gros, John Fohl, René Coman and Russ Broussard, Dex Daley and Bucky Henry, with Grisham joining from Nashville on pedal steel.

"I’ve been writing songs since the fall of 1985. I know this because I still have the spiral notebook with my first attempts at songwriting. Those songs will never see the light of day, but I can tell you that I’ve been combing the same beach my whole life. Always familiar but never the same. The weather changes. The tide comes in and goes out. Morning light reveals something different than sunset. On any given day the surf could be calm, clean and glassy or blown out.

Sometimes conditions change, sometimes it's just your perspective. But there is always something new to dicover.

I guess that’s why I keep coming back."
